The Digital Compass: Guiding digital ambitions and growth within your organization!

In a world where technology evolves at lightning speed, simply offering training is no longer enough. Organizations and people need direction. At InnovateU, we understand that digital transformation isn't just about tools, but primarily about people. That is why we developed the Digital Compass: a strategic instrument that helps employees, teams, and organizations create a starting point for growth, guidance, and talent development regarding digital transformation!

Ambition: Where do we want to go?

Every successful change starts with a clear ambition. Organizations that invest in digital skills are better equipped to innovate, work in a customer-centric way, and remain attractive as an employer. According to the Digital Economy Monitor 2024, the share of ICT in total R&D expenditure in the Netherlands has risen to 17.2% and is only increasing exponentially. This emphasizes how important digital innovation is for the competitiveness of companies.

The Digital Compass helps organizations make this ambition concrete: what digital skills do our people need to achieve our strategic goals? And how do we ensure that all employees recognize themselves in this and start moving along with this change?

Frame of Reference: Where do we stand now?

A learning journey without a starting point is like navigating without a map. That is why we have developed multiple assessments to make change tangible from both a strategic and operational level. For example, there is the ambition scan in which the organization indicates which direction it wants to move, but also the personal assessment where you can see for yourself exactly where you currently stand. All beautifully visualized in a compass. This provides insight into your current digital skills and links them to the organization's ambitions.

The Dutch government's DIGCOM research shows that digital competencies among the Dutch vary greatly, and that targeted support is essential to include everyone in the digital transition. Thanks to our baseline measurement, employees and organizations can work purposefully on the skills that truly matter – without wasting time on irrelevant training courses.

Compare: Learning from each other

Learning is not a solo journey. Within the Digital Compass, employees can compare their progress with colleagues or with the average of their department. This stimulates not only healthy competition but also collaboration and knowledge sharing. The Netherlands is a frontrunner in Europe when it comes to basic digital skills: 83% of the population between 16 and 75 possesses them. Yet, within organizations, there is often still much to be gained in deepening and applying these skills in practice. This involves developing the skills to adapt quickly and continuously support yourself through the constant changes you face, which will soon be coming your way in large numbers.

By providing insight into the digital maturity of teams, the Compass helps to stimulate collective growth.

Conclusion: From direction to results

A race car without a driver goes nowhere. The same applies to digital transformation: without direction and guidance, investments in training often yield no results. InnovateU's Digital Compass provides that direction – based on ambition, insight, and collaboration. Together, we build organizations and people that are ready for the future.
